March 6, Colombo: The executive committee of the Peoples Alliance JVP
Sandhanaya met at an emergency session yesterday as members were alarmed
at the negative connotations of the beetle leaf, their chosen symbol. The
beetle leaf which is UNP green, turns JVP red when chewed upon and is spat
out with a "thu witharak". In addition the beetle chewing habit results in
oral cancer and early death.
On a brilliant suggestion made jointly by Mangala (Samaraweera ) and Anura
(Bandaranaike), the bulath hapayaas decided henceforth to use as their
party symbol, a condom because it more clearly reflects the party's
political stance
A condom stands up to inflation, halts production, destroys the next
generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives one a sense of security while screwing
others.
