at the negative connotations of the beetle leaf, their chosen symbol. The beetle leaf which is UNP green, turns JVP red when chewed upon and is spat out with a "thu witharak". In addition the beetle chewing habit results in oral cancer and early death.
On a brilliant suggestion made jointly by Mangala (Samaraweera ) and Anura (Bandaranaike), the bulath hapayaas decided henceforth to use as their
